The mission of The Heartmates Foundation is to promote, educate, and support families of heart patients throughout the world: Informing and assisting heart patients' families and loved ones after a life-threatening cardiac event or procedure to maximize recovery and enhance long-term quality of life.

To achieve this mission, Heartmates:

• Teaches heartmates practical techniques and methods to manage the long-range psycho-spiritual consequences of heart disease.
• Creates hands-on, accessible resources for families and cardiac health professionals to complement physician advice and support.
• Trains health care professionals about the psycho-spiritual needs of heartmates and how to address them.
• Educates the general public, heartmates and health care professionals through television, radio, print media, and the web.
